Mission Statement
Simply put, we strive to be the fastest ATV Team on the entire planet. As we effort to continuously achieve that goal, we will never compromise our personal integrity and we will always do our utmost to positively represent the ATV community that has done so much to support our dreams.
My name is Terry Wilmeth, aka "AFTERBURNER" of Afterburner Land Speed Racing. I am the current and two-time Guinness World Record holder of the fastest All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on the planet. I am also the Northwest Offroad Timing Authority (NWOTA) Ultimate ATV Land Speed World Champion. I achieved these records on Yamaha 660R and 700R Raptor ATV's supplemented by a homemade hybrid rocket thruster. We relied on these ATV platforms due to their incredible power and reliability.
Beyond our land speed records, I previously held the World non-stop ATV off-road endurance record as well as the previous 2004 Guinness World Record for the largest Parade of ATV's in the world.
We use these various successes to show the positive aspects of the ATV sport and the excellent folks that contributed to our success. To that end, I have relied on my limited record-breaking fame to promote my supporters as well conduct various ATV fundraisers and charities here in Oregon, which I have listed below. Also, along with Jeff Urbach of Fullbore Innovations, I am one of two primary sponsors of the famous Oregon Dunefest, touted as the premier national sand dune sport event (Dirt Wheels Magazine-December 2006). I am now working with Jeff and Sand Addiction Magazine to elevate Oregon sand sports to the next level by bringing back Sandfest(sm) for 2008 to Coos Bay, Oregon.
For 2007, we prepped a newer version of the Rocker Raptor 700R (version 5.0) to break the 170mph barrier. We didn't meet that goal because the rocket pack exploded after a fast run during a photo shoot, but I did achieve a new Guinness Record at 155mph sustained and Natalie achieved a sustained record of 138mph. We also achieved several additional ATV speed record categories maintained by the Northwest Offroad Timing Authority (NWOTA), the only legally recognized ATV speed sanctioning body in the United States. In fact, we achieved a NWOTA ultimate record of 167mph but it was a single run.
For 2008...............................We attack the 200mph barrier!!!!
Thanks so very much for visiting us here,
Terry Wilmeth
